I love bad weather, and there was plenty of it Saturday in Columbus. A number of these photos seem gray, or foggy – but that is actually rain. I obviously had a lot of fun covering this game. It was a thrill all around. It was neat to be there with the band, and to hear the crowd. It was also neat to be shooting shoulder to shoulder with better photographers from The Dispatch, Reuters, AP, Cleveland Plain Dealer, along with others. Learned a lot and had some fun: it makes a good day.

Random road trip through Allen County

Last evening I was sitting at my apartment.. very bored, so I drove around Allen County and did some random shooting.
I need to do this more often, especially now that it is Fall and the colors are always neat.
Photos from Oktoberfest Zinzinnati

I had a lot of fun photographing the Oktoberfest this weekend. Cincinnati is definitely my favorite to visit and photograph. The people and the architecture; what more could you want?
George Wendt at Oktoberfest

George Wendt was at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati on Sunday leading the Chicken Dance. It was pretty darn hilarious and I was able to get close to the stage.
Assessing the Progression
A little over three months ago, I was able to drive across the country. That time, those three days, spent alone, driving some 2,600 miles was a great experience. I saw some things along the way I never imagined, and was able to collect my thoughts after a tough final semester of college, and my first few week at an internship in Columbus.
A lot has changed since then, and a lot remains the same. I currently am a month into my latest internship, with The Lima News. It has been a great experience, and I am looking forward to all that the coming months have to offer. The internship is scheduled to conclude in January.
It is amazing to think how rapidly and extensively everything can change. I am never unimpressed by the blinding speed of life. I realize, though, that it all happens for a reason, the good and the bad. It is nice, now and then, to look around and see where we stand at that moment.
When I returned from my westward vacation, I listed in an earlier entry a number of goals I wished to accomplish in the coming months. I was thinking about them the other day; how I have done so far, as well as what new goals I would like to add to the list. So hear goes:
GOALS FROM JUNE 8 ENTRY:
- I want to learn Arabic and/or German – I still wish to learn one or the other. But I have had a tough time teaching myself from this German for Travelers book I purchased – so maybe for Christmas I can request a Rosetta Stone program or something similar?
- Learn how to play the harmonica – ehh… still needs some time.
- Master my tennis serve – Obviously the most serious of my goals. I was able to play a fair amount while back home, and did improve. But my overall game still needs marked improvement.
- Become a better journalist – I feel I have become a better journalist. Photo-speaking, this latest internship has provided me with great opportunites to cover events and stories which lend themselves to strong images. But I have noticed some improvememt in my overall skills. But I can still be greatly improved. As far as reporting and writing, I was asked to do a fair amount at the last internship, and I was pretty happy with the improvement. I do hope to begin writing for The Lima News in the near future.
- Finish my bike project- EPIC FAIL (up to this point) I actually re-began working on the Schwinn just yesterday. I have stripped off the layer of paint that I had added to the bike some 7 months ago. This won’t be a short process of restoration, but I will keep at it.
NEW ADDITIONS:
- Bike more often – I have taken the Raliegh out at least twice a week since arriving in Lima. If i can keep that same frequency, and increase the distance, all shall be right with the world.
- Do something exciting after this internship – whether it be a big trip, or a big move – something needs to happen.
- Drive on at least one of my days off – nothing wrong with a day-trip to cincinnati or muncie. I hope to do these as well as some random drives to nearby places i’ve never been.
I feel that is all for now. More photos soon – I would add them now, but I am at home and just paid my wireless internet bill. D-Damn. I didn’t even exceed my usage bill last month at it was a doozie; I supposed a got bit was for a “start-up” fee… but still.
Thank you for your time.

I was half asleep early Monday when I heard about some activity on St. Johns Avenue. After heading over, getting a few photos (from as close as I could get) and interviewing a few officer, I found out it was a one vehicle incident; so it most likely wouldn’t be run in the paper. But it was still a thrill to be out on some spot news and be the only representative of the paper.
